Review:

"I saw the film The Business of Being Born last night in Byron Bay, Australia. It was so beautiful, shocking, overwhelming, sad, frustrating, intense, awe inspiring and a very much needed movie to be put out there for the world to see."
Rose - Australia

Compelled to explore the subject after the delivery of her first child, actress Ricki Lake recruits filmmaker Abby Epstein to question the way American women have babies. And don't think it doesn't relate to Australia - we have a HIGHER rate of caesarean sections that the USA and is completely relevant.

The film interlaces intimate birth stories with surprising historical, political and scientific insights and shocking statistics about the current maternity care system. When director Epstein discovers she is pregnant during the making of the film, the journey becomes even more personal.

Should most births be viewed as a natural life process, or should every delivery be treated as a potentially catastrophic medical emergency?

A MUST see for all expectant couples or those trying to conceive. PAL format, without region coding, so this DVD will play anywhere as long as you have a PAL player.
