    Pregnant with Twins?

My husband has an identical twin brother, and cousins who are twins too. Do twins skip a generation or is there a possibility that I'm carrying twins too?? At what point during the pregnancy do the cells split into two or create twins? When is the earliest time you can tell that you are having twins?

How far along are you Tara? It is possible that you are carrying twins, as having a family history of twins makes them more likely. Often you can tell if it is twins by ultrasound between eight to twelve weeks and palpitation by around twenty. Best of luck! Let us know if you find out it is twins! Such a sweet blessing.

Hi mom2many, I'm approaching my 13th week now. Met with our doctor a few days ago and she confirmed that we're not having twins (phew!). Thanks for the reply as always

Congratulations on your pregnancy; twins are a double blessing but very hard work.

Waiting for them and worrying about them. I worry about them from day one, but never enough to take away from that amazing 9 months of my life. Just a mama's worry- I'm sure it will be something I do for the rest of my life. They are my babies... my very, very, very wanted babies.

Awww smithjones - thinking about you. What a special time but I'm sure every mum out there can emphasise with your worry too - especially mums of twins.

I am assuming from your post that you are pregnant with twins and I want to wish you a wonderful, stress-free rest of pregnancy on this journey towards meeting your beautiful babies. You are already their mum - the journey has begun and as you get closer to their birthing day you get closer to seeing your babies faces. I hope that this thought can get you through the difficult days and help you to relax during the labour.

Please do post any specific worries you have so that we can help to support you here.

    Thinking of you,
