Hi,

Did you know that it's advised to take folic acid before, after and during pregnancy? You can read more about Folic Acid For Pregnancy here.

Folic acid helps to protect your baby from defects of the spinal cord and brain.

If there is any possibility that you could become pregnant you should take folic acid, as it is best if it is taken before conception. It is really important to take folic acid during the first trimester and it is good to take it throughout pregnancy.

Interestingly, folic acid is also recommended if you are breastfeeding. It supports the body in making red blood cells and with repairing DNA. It does come through the breastmilk, but no negative effects for babies have been found.

There are even benefits when you finish breastfeeding - including reduced chance of contracting depression and reduced risk of stroke and heart disease.

Best wishes,

LJ
