food to be avoided during pregnancy

Is there a certain food to be avoided during pregnancy?

One of the best foods to avoid during pregnancy is sugar. Another would be flour. During pregnancy you will want to be sure you are getting lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, high quality fats (i.e. avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, nuts and seeds) and high quality protein.

You will also want to eat organic foods when possible, to limit pesticide exposure for your baby.

    Warm Regards,

    Hi whiterose,

I see you have already had some helpful information from Kate above :-)

You may also find this article useful on Safe Eating and Drinking Before and During Pregnancy. In particular you should avoid: alcohol, caffeine, fish which is high in mercury (this includes: shark, marlin, swordfish, broadbill and orange roughy), soft and semi-soft cheeses (including: brie, Camembert, goat's cheese, blue cheese and ricotta), pate and unpasturised dairy.

Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy,
    LJ
