    Causes of Blighted Ovum

What are the possible causes of Blighted Ovum?

    Dear jellyace,

Again, please accept my sympathies and thoughts - I'm so sorry that you have experienced this loss.

Here is a useful information sheet from The Miscarriage Association on Blighted Ovum.

A blighted ovum sadly occurs where the pregnancy sac is present but the embryo (baby) does not develop. It is thought to be caused by a problem with the number of chromosomes in the embryo. It is highly unlikely to be caused by anything you did or didn't do. Most women who experience a blighted ovum go on to have a successful subsequent pregnancy.

    Thinking of you,

    LJ
