    what to eat when your child is low in iron

    Recently we found out that my daughter is low in iron. The doctor gave her an over the counter medicine. I was just wondering if there are certain food that she can eat that will boost her iron level high and also I have to make sure that it is good so she can eat it because she is a very picky eater.     Great question mommyroxy!
    I've found that cooking with a cast iron pan helps a lot, as it's something that you don't have to cook or prepare.
    Here is a list of foods that are high in iron as well:

    Lean red meats - beef, pork and lamb.


    Seafood including shrimp (my son's favorite), salmon and tuna.

    Poultry such as chicken and turkey.

    Eggs. The yolks contain iron.

    Kidney beans, lima beans, black beans, pinto beans, soy beans and lentils.

    Dark green vegetables including spinach, collard greens and mustard greens.

    Broccoli, asparagus, Swiss chard and brussel sprouts.



    Dried fruits such as raisins, dates, apricots and prunes.

    This should help you out a bit.
    I can relate to a picky eater as i have a few of them in our household.
