Breastfeeding while pregnant
I have a toddler who is currently breastfed and am also pregnant. Must I stop breastfeeding?

Congratulations on your pregnancy. No you don't need to stop breastfeeding - the medical advice is now that it is safe to breastfeed through pregnancy. Many women go on to tandem breastfeed their toddler and new baby. This means your toddler continues to get that wonderful bonding time and the continued nutritional and immunological benefits of the breastmilk. It can also help a toddler with transitioning to have a new baby.
Some women find that their nipples are more sensitive in pregnancy. You may need to gently stop your toddler playing with your nipples if they do this and you find it uncomfortable. Sometimes women also find that their milk supply drops in pregnancy - you can still continue to breastfeed through this but it is something to be aware of.
With warm wishes,
