    Breast milk for ear infections

I see a lot of recommendations to put breast milk into ears when infected especially to newborns.. Is this also one of the benefits of breast milk?

    Dear redempta,

Thank you for posting this interesting question.

Yes breastmilk has amazing healing properties. Some of the latest research also shows that it contains stem cells. As an Audiologist I can also say that breastmilk can help with ear infections and ear aches - just a few drops in the babies ear (or mum's ear for that matter).

Breastfed babies have less chance of developing childhood infections anyway due to the immunological properties of the breastmilk.

Breastmilk is even being used to treat a large number of cancers with positive results.

    With warm wishes,
    LJ
