    Uti

I was recently diagnosed with UTI, and was prescribed by
my doctor some oral antibiotics. I took the prescription issued for me
but quite hesitant to take the medications.

I'm not feeling ill or anything. Please advise.

    Hi kat1108.

UTIs are quite common in pregnancy. A doctor can diagnose them by testing your urine for bacteria. In some cases a low dose of antibiotics is prescribed (which have been found to be safe to take in pregnancy). It is important to not let the UTI develop into a further infection as this could cause your baby to have a low birth weight or be born prematurely.

    Best wishes,
    LJ

I would recommend going back to your doctor to check the UTI has gone if you don't want to take the antibiotics. Just to be on the safe side because of the possible complications in pregnancy a UTI can cause.

I wish you a happy, healthy rest of pregnancy,
    LJ
