    learnaboutbabies,

Accord to the World Health Association (WHO):

Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure a child's health and survival.

If every child was breastfed within an hour of birth, given only breast milk for their first six months of life, and continued breastfeeding up to the age of two years, about 800 000 child lives would be saved every year. Globally, less than 40% of infants under six months of age are exclusively breastfed. Adequate breastfeeding counselling and support are essential for mothers and families to initiate and maintain optimal breastfeeding practices.

WHO actively promotes breastfeeding as the best source of nourishment for infants and young children.

Here is a great link from (WHO) and 10 facts about breastfeeding, check it out to see all the awesome facts.
    http://www.who.int/features/factfiles/breastfeeding/en/

If a mother finds that she must use bottles, pumping her milk and giving breastmilk in a bottle is the next best solution.

    Blessings

Yes, yes, yes! Breastmilk has so many advantages over formula milk which is sadly vastly inferior in comparison.

I see you have had some great links to the WHO info from sunnymumof5. You may also be interested in reading this recent thread entitled 'breastfeeding vs bottle feeding'.

Please don't hesitate to post back if you have any further questions about breastfeeding. It is such an important topic.
    Warm wishes,
    LJ
