Is spanking a good method to discipline?

Some parents consider hurting their kids (a bit) is good is a good way to discipline. I believe communicating does work. Yet some children are hard-headed that frustrates their parents and end up spanking them. So I'm wondering does spanking really works to discipline? And is there any better alternative for that? Please I want to know. Thank you.

Let me start by quoting this:

“When a child hits a child, we call it aggression.
When a child hits an adult, we call it hostility.
When an adult hits an adult, we call it assault.
When an adult hits a child, we call it discipline.”
    ~Haim G. Ginott

Here is a link to a great article about spanking children:

It is never ok to hit a child, nor another human being.
Open communication between yourself and children is the key to a happy home with love and harmony.

If for what ever reason you get to the point where you feel the desire to assult another must stop and take a time out and cool yourself down. Take a breather, go is not worth the damage you can cause to your loved ones and your self.

Im open to further discussion about this subject, feel free to continue our chat.
