    Daughter telling too many stories

My four year old has been telling a lot of 'tales' lately. My favorite was when she told me she was allergic to squirrels. Any suggestions helping her differentiate from fact/fiction and how to communicate that to adults.

    Hi Mumof2,

This is a totally normal stage and a totally lovely stage

Children cannot actually understand the full difference between fact and fiction until age 6-7. Have a read of this article from Dr. Sears: Lying: 5 Reasons Why Kids Lie. I hope you find it helpful.

    Warm wishes,
    LJ

Loved the article! It is definitely entertaining, but it was also concerning since she's starting kinder soon. Very helpful, thanks!

I'm so pleased you liked that article - there is a wealth of gentle parenting information on the Dr. Sears site.

Your daughter is only 4 so hold in mind that it is normal and natural and a good kindergarten (with experienced teachers and carers) will understand this.

    Warm wishes,
    LJ
