Pre-eclampsia
Hello,
My labour was induced at 34 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. Is there a higher risk of being pre-eclamptic again with my second pregnancy? Is there anything I can do to prevent this?
Thank you

Hi Fran,
I will ask Jane if there is a higher risk of being pre-eclamptic again with a second pregnancy and ask her to post back here.
Warm regards,
Kate

Hi Fran - Pre-eclampsia is most commonly associated with a first pregnancy however it can reoccur in a subsequent pregnancy (this is not common however). I would recommend good preconception care to ensure you are as healthy as possible prior to pregnancy. The supplements Omega 3, calcium and magnesium may help reduce the incidence of pre-eclampsia reoccurring. I would recommend speaking to a midwife, doctor or naturopath about the correct type and dosage.
