Teenagers being targeted by the Australian Government
I've been rung by a Melborne radio station and the ABC this morning seeking either a teenager who is pregnant or a teenage parent for comment the proposed changes to welfare payments for teenage parents. I am not sure where to refer them to - any ideas??? The new changes propose that by the age of six months the teenager has to have a work or study plan and return to work by 12 months or loose all welfare payments. This doesn't sit right with me - the teenager is not only navigating the challenging teenage years, they are also adjusting to being a parent. The government want them to go back to work quickly as well. Where is the teenagers child in all of this. This isn't tough love - is just wrong.
