Painful menstrual periods affect fertility?
Does dysmenorrhea or painful menstrual periods affect fertility?

I've been having painful periods since my first menstruation. And now that I am in the age of wanting to have kids, I always get worried everytime these dysmenorrhea episodes happen because I kept thinking maybe there may be something wrong with my system and possible will eventually lead to fertility problems.

Painful periods are a sign of hormonal imbalance. Simply put, you should not have them. However, many, many women do, and many women conceive without problem.
I would encourage you to start your preconception care now, while you're actually thinking of having children. If you do this you may find that your periods become less painful, your cycles become very regular and you experience good signs of fertility, all of which will set you up for the best pregnancy possible.
If you'd like more ideas on how to get some relief from your painful periods just let me know.
Warm regards,
Kate

Hi Rhea,
Please be sure you read the preconception care article as that will give you a good start.
Other things you can do to help balance your hormones is to squeeze 1/2 of a lemon into a glass of pure water and drink that each morning when you get up. Drinking plenty of pure water throughout the day is also going to greatly benefit you.
Sometimes taking 1 Tblsp. of organic olive oil each day will help. You can take this 30 minutes before dinner for best results.
Getting enough essential fatty acids is also important.
Hope this helps.
Warm regards,
Kate

Kate pretty much said it all =).. Painful periods do not cause infertility but they can sometimes be a symptom of something that does. Make sense? So if you are having a combination of trouble conceiving and painful periods then you should definitely visit your OB or a fertility specialist to rule out any underlying conditions.

Angela had some good insight about visiting your health care practitioner. Painful periods may be "nothing" but again, it could mean Endometriosis or other things that do affect fertility.
