You are correct. The ocean reaf pools are designed as kids inflatable pools. However they are just great for use during labour and birth (I used one for my last two births)
I noticed in the comparison chart some of the pools were listed as a single use. What does that mean? I'm asking as I have seen one being sold second hand. It hasn't been birthed in, but it has been filled with water to test it out.
Hi Liv - when birth pools are manufactured they are designed for either personal use or professional use. The professional use birth pools are designed for repeated use where as the personal use birth pools are not. However as you know kids inflatable pools can be used over and over and the worse that can happen is a puncture (which can be fixed) or a seam fault (which makes the pool unusable). Obviously a water leak in your house is not something you want - so you need to test the pool before use. Single use pools are not covered by warranty if they are used again. FYI - You are supposed to test a birth pool when purchased brand new before use.
Hi Jane. What is the capacity of the birth pool in a box? We have a 315L electric hot water system - will that be enough hot water to fill that pool? Thanks :)
Hi Nadine - the birth pool in a box holds 650 Litres when 80% filled. I dare say you will run out of hot water before it is filled. See if you can borrow an urn to help heat up water to put in the pool. I have been at many births where I am boiling water on the stove and using the kettle. We always manage to fill the pool up not mater what the size of the hot water service.
