Only four out of ten children are breastfed in the world today. Statistics show that  820,000 more children every year would survive if approximately nine out of ten babies were breastfed. Breastfeeding is the natural way to feed your baby after birth. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life.

The primary reason for exclusive breastfeeding is that breast milk contains all the nutrients that a baby requires. In addition, breastmilk contains antibodies that help protect against many childhood illnesses.  Also, breastfeeding reinforces the mother-to-baby bond and creates a feeling of safety and warmth for your baby.
