Sometimes however, as a pregnant teenager, you may experience judgmental attitudes from friends at school and other people in your life. So, if you find yourself struggling or lacking support you have the option of contacting a supportive organisation. On this page we’ve listed a number of non-judgmental organisations that you can contact for help.

As a young parent, you’ll not only face challenges as you navigate the turbulent teenage years, you’ll have the additional challenge of meeting the needs of your child. However teenage parenthood doesn’t need to be negative. For example, it can a time for growth and positive changes in your life if you have the right support.

Birthline (Pregnancy Support) 24hr Information & Advisory Service

Counselling service for pregnant women providing information and choices to women. In addition a great source and donate clothing and nursery equipment as required. Furthermore pregnancy testing available. Open from 9.30am-4.30pm Mon-Fri. Birth Line is:

  • Funded by public donations
  • Staffed by volunteers, some doctors, nurses and social workers
  • A source of resources for unplanned pregnancy

Pregnancy Help Australia is a national body which provides support, education and resources in Australia. They also provides support for teenagers experiencing pregnancy.

Voluntary support group for mothers who have had traumatic birth experiences. In addition they offer support offered through email and phone Australia-wide.

Child and Youth Health Parent Helpline (24hrs)

The Children, Youth and Women’s Health Services (CYWHS) Parent Helpline provides telephone information and support. You can contact them any time. Parent Helpline staff are available 7 days a week during the day. Calls recieved between 9:15pm and 7:15am will go to the national Healthdirect helpline.

Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA)

The Australian Breastfeeding Association is a large community based self-help group supporting breastfeeding. Most importantly they are recognised as a leading organisation on breastfeeding management.
