This section is to help young women deal with a pregnancy. However, if you feel that your situation is urgent then I advise you to call either the Kids Help Line (phone 1800 551 800) or Lifeline (phone 131 114).
The most important thing to understand if you are a young woman who is unsure whether or not she is pregnant, is that the earlier you establish whether you are pregnant or not the better. If you are pregnant remember you DO have choices, and YOU are the only person that knows what is best for you.
Below is a list of websites that may be of some help.
Tots-n-Tums is a fun and friendly forum for teenage and young parents. We offer a range of information and support for topics such as conception, pregnancy, labour and birth, parenting and beyond.
Women's Health Queensland - Teenage Pregnancy
This site is for students who are doing work on teenage pregnancy
Young Adult Health - Pregnancy Options
This section of the Child and Youth Health website is a comprehensive explanation of unplanned pregnancy options in Australia.

teenage pregnancy is tough, but don't give up and think it is the end, there are always people who can help you. Get early detection, that is very important, and talk to someone you trust, who cares and that can help you.
Im 16 years of age and just found out i am pregnant yesterday. Better yet, i also found out today i am 6 weeks. I have so many mixed emotions about whether or not i am ready and how im going to deal with it. My partner said he doesnt want anything to do with me if i decide to keep a baby( he doesnt know for sure yet, though im sure he is suspicious i am pregnant) I'd guess i'd like to know what im in for and how tough this is going to be.
Hi Danielle - Feeling mixed emotions on finding out you are pregnant at any age is normal. Do you have anyone you can talk to? I've set up a whole section on teenage pregnancy (see ourTeenage Pregnancy Section.)I hope you find this helpful. You can contact many of the pregnancy help organisations for information and support

Hi, my name is Charlotte Knight and I am currently studying Childstudies as one of my year 12 subjects. For an investigative assignment I have chosen to research the impact that teenage pregnancy can have on a teenagers life. In particular I am interested in finding out the impact it has on the positives and netagives about teenage pregnancy and how it can impact their life For this assignment we are required to have a secondary source of information which is why any information you can tell me will be of a great help! If you have any information about teenage pregnancyor any statistics, that be mostly appreciated.
Hi Charlotte - Why don't you explore our Teenage Pregnancy Section of our website. You will find answers to at least some of your questions.
Yeah me n my mrs are having a kid. Im 24 n shes 17. Shes a little worried, but together we are gaining as much info as we can. We are so happy. 6 weeks ago we created a life!
Hi Kaylee - I am sorry but I do not know where you can go for help in the U.S. Are you able to talk to a doctor or health worker confidentially? They should know where the organisations are that may be able to help you.
My girlfriend thinks she pregnant and we don't no what to do if she is, were thinking about putting the baby into adoption but we don't now how much money it will cost in Canada.
Hi Devon - I am wondering if you and your girlfriend are able to make an appointment with a midwife. A midwife should be able to explain what your options are and any associated costs.
I'm sixteen years old & I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant - I'm going to get a test on payday, haha. I've already decided abortion is not the option for me whether I'm pregnant or not & I don't think I could put my baby up for adoption - so it looks like I would be keeping it. My boyfriend is twenty five & I already have discussed with him my thoughts, as I was feeling weird & what not. He's excited (which makes me a little worried that he'll be disappointed if the test shows up negative, but yeah). I am just looking for any decent sort of help as to what I'm meant to do (regarding appoinments that need to be made, etc.), as well as someone to talk to throughout my pregnancy. Anyways, yeah. Cheers. :)
If you test is positive you can make an appointment with a doctor or midwife - they will be able to confirm your pregnancy and discuss your options with you. Pregnancy Help Australia offers information and support.
I`m sixteen and pregnant 2-3 weeks gone i really don't no what to do. I was in school 2 days in fifth year when I found out the news, I'm so scared i have no one i can talk to. my mam, sister and boyfriend are the only ones to no. my mam and sister are hoping i don't keep the child but, my boyfriend wants me to keep it they said what ever way i go the three will support me i don't think i could go through not keeping the child but, I'm also not strong enough to keep it and i don;t think I'm ready...they don't really understand at all i just don't no what to do :/ can someone help please...?
Hi Lulu - Being pregnant and scared at 16 is very understandable. I am not sure where you are living. Are you able to see a midwife or doctor to discuss your options. Here in Australia there are lots of support services to help young mothers work through the options and make the choice that is best for them. You could try Pregnancy Help Australia.
I just turned 20 not long before i found out I was pregnant and decided to keep it now I'm 17 weeks and a I got made redundant and was relying on my partners job to support the three of us but he's job isnt reliable, I still want to keep this child but I's starting to stress out about finances as we were meant to buy our own house too, to be more independant and our current livinig situation where were renting is losing us more money than we can afford. Can you suggest anything to help?

Hello, I am not a young mum, I am a registered nurse doing a sexual health course and investigating what help there is out there for young mums. This happened to my daughter when she had just turned 17, but while it was difficult for her for a few years, she is a good mum now, and has a beautiful 6 year old boy. If your heart is in the right place, and you have a lot of family support, it is not all bad. Most schools support young mums going back to school, it is really important to finiish your schooling so you can support your baby when you get back into it. The teachers were really great with her. Janet
Hi my name is Ayshen. I am a 38 year old single mum and my beautiful little girl is now almost 8. I have kept all of my daughters furniture in hope of having another child but things haven't worked out they way that I thought they would. Instead of selling what I have I would really like to offer it all to someone to hopefully releave the financial pressure of having to buy these things. I have a cot, change table/draws, high chair, porta cot, car seat, booster seat, sterliser, baby monitor, basenette etc all in beautiful condition. I am in Melbourne Vic. Please let me know if you are insterest and I wish you all a healthy pregnancy. Ayshen
im 16 and fell pregnant to a guys baby who i had a one night stand with. i was on the pill and was taking it everyday, we didnt use protection and we were both intoxicated. i was also 3 days before my ovulating stage, he said he didnt ejaculate but he did 'pre-cum' all those little bits of information were the things that make all of us think "i cant fall pregnant because im not ovulating, i cant fall pregnant because im on the pill, i cant fall pregnant because he said he didnt ejaculate" to any girls on this site that arnt pregnant please take everything i said into consideration as "yes you can fall pregnant if these things occur to you" it takes one sneaky sperm to ruin the rest of your life. i am now 22 weeks pregnant and having a baby girl. my babys daddy isnt sticking around because he didint want anything to do with her. us girls need each other at this point in time more than we need anybody else.
I'm 15 and I just found out I am pregnant, i have spoken with my mother about it, and she is not happy with the choice i have made. I really want to keep the baby because i feel it is my given right to make my own choices, i am against abortion and cannot bring myself to make that dreadful decision. i also discussed the matter with the father of the baby, is there any support groups or government benefits i can receive to help me raise the baby as i have decided to keep it
Hi Samantha - I suggest you make contact with Pregnancy Help Australia (see previous comments for the link to their website). They have lots of information that may help you.
Hi, my name is tiarne, im 15 and i think im pregnant ive had all the signs, My boyfriend is 16 and he wants a child but i dont know how to tell him. Im also sceard to tell my perants as i dont know what they would do. abortion isnt an option i find it wrong in so many ways, but i just need help! I have no idea what to do!!
I fell pregnant when i was 13 and was convinced by my parents to have an abortion even though i knew i would hate myself for it, i went ahead with it because i didnt want to upset my family. 3 years later, i am now 16 and my boyfriend and i are still together even though it has been a very tough few years, about 6 months after my abortion i was diagnosed with major depression. my boyfriend and i have become stronger through our experiences and plan to one day get married and have kids, since my abortion i feel there is a huge hole in my heart and even though i am extreamly happy i still feel this hole will not go away until i have a baby. i want a baby so much and dont want to upset my family but feel that i am ready and cant wait any longer.
Hi Tiarne - Do you have anyone who you can talk to? It is important not to do this alone. Let your boyfriend know what is going on and hopefully he will provide you with support. You need to find out if you are pregnant. Make an appointment with a midwife or doctor to confirm whether or not you are pregnant. If you have any questions you can ask the midwife on our forum.
i'm 16 and lately i've been feeling that i want a baby - i wouldnt PLAN one (like, put holes in a condom or anything) but i want one - does that make sense? its a really weird feeling - my boyfriend and i were talking about what would happen if i ever was pregnant and he said he'd support me in whatever decision i make. i don't know why i have this feeling. i'm just wondering why it would be happening to me? its kind of like a craving... it's weird. i'd like to know why i'm feeling like this? if i can thanks xo
Hi Molly - I've put your post on our forum in the hope that others can reply to your question. To read the posts on the forum go to the teenage pregnancy thread.

HI Dazza - I know it's hard but I agree with your boyfriend that you should tell your parents. They can't make you put your baby up for adoption. Maybe they will be able to offer you some support.

I'm 17 (two months of 18) and pregnant. I just moved to Sydney with my family from Melbourne. There are two potential fathers back in Melbourne. I have high doubts for my father being supportive, he's never handled bad situations well and I'm afraid of being kicked out. I don't think I can go through with abortion but I don't want to have to bring this baby up with a rough financial situation. I work in a childcare full time making around $990 a week. I know I would receive some sort of support from the government. If I have to move out- Can I do this? I'd go back to Melbourne as any support I have is down there. Help

Hey I'm 15 turning 16 in September. I am currently 15 weeks pregnant. My boyfriend is 22 and has told me he will always be here for the child no matter what, which makes me feel better. I'm keeping my pregnancy a secret from my family because of my boyfriends age but I know I'm ready to give up my teenage life for my child I want my baby to have a happy life. I'm moving out of home as soon as I'm 17 because I know my mum wont accept my choice with the baby but my boyfriends parents do. I'm 14, and about a month and a week ago give or take a few days had protected sex with my now ex boyfriend.
I was off my period by about 2 days, after the sex he looked at the condom and said he thought it had a chance of splitting because he swore he 'came' more than that.. So I waited until my next period, and then thought no more of it.. A few days before my period I thought I had come on because there was blood in my knickers, but then nothing more until 3 or so days later when I was on my period, or atleast thought I was, it was a bit lighter than usual, and didn't last as long.
A few days ago my nipples started to feel quite sore and tender, I looked it up last night and all that came up was pregnancy things, also said other symptoms, a lot of which i had, fatigue, tiredness, eating a lot more, dizzyness, vivid dreams, cramps, craving things, such a fish, feeling a lot hungrier, getting more spots, mood swings and headaches. I then found out it was very common to have 'vaginal bleeding' which can often be mistaken for your period..
it could all just be a coinsedence, but i'm still worrying about it, I no longer talk to the guy, we didn't end too well.. I'm moving house over this weekend and mum wants me in to help, so i can't go and get a test or talk to anybody professionally for help, I just want to know what chances I have on being pregnant, and any other help you could possibly give.

I was a teenage mum, I had my first daughter at 17yr and at 18yr was given a boyfriends 5yr old to help raise.By the time I was 22yrs I had 3 duaghters.I also chose not to have a theird child,so I can understand both sides. It was tough and we had real hard times, but there were realy good times too.The girls are 27,21 and 17,I am 39yr old uni student studing nursing. The decision to have or not to have is a hard one and there are pro's and con's on both sides.Remember that what ever you choose,it must be the right choice for YOU.You are the one this has happen to,so make the decision for your reasons.Do your best and thing will work out OK.There is lots of help so don't forget to ask for some as it can make all the difference. Hi Holli If you are in Australia there are a lot of programs under the distance education catagorie. This means you can stay at home with your baby and do your studies when you get time. Good luck with the baby and your schooling

This is completely unplanned and I lost my job before I found out. I also planned to go and do further study. I'm at a loss what to do. I've been looking for work for months without Any luck. My boyfriend and I have been together a year. He says he supports me no matter what. I've been to counseling but didn't make it clearer. Now I've been referred to a different person. This has been really stressful. What to do?

I am 14, and I live in nsw. I am just wondering since I'm pregnant at 14 do I still have to continue going to school? or do I go to a young mums school or get time off to look after my baby? and what do I say to my parents so then they don't get mad at me and my boyfriend?!?!
Hello, I am 17 years old and I am 8 weeks pregnant, and I am gonna have to tell my dad soon. And he is gonna. Kick me out so I will have no where to live. I have no idea what to do
Hello, I am 17 years old. I have been with my partner for 10 months now and this will be our second pregnancy. The first ended in a missed miscarriage and it was quite difficult; a lot ofcomplicications occured and I was rushed into surgery. With our first pregnancy we both knew we wanted to keep the baby but there are so many mixed feelings now with this baby. I know not many people are going to support me this time as I should have learnt from my last pregnancy with Peyton. I don't know what to do or who to talk too. My Mum is pregnant herself and she is going to be so upset. My partner doesn't know what he wants, and says it is all up to me... I don't feel as though abortion is an answer but I am just starting school again in a month to complete year 12. Are there any services I could see in Newcastle, NSW? I have been to the family planning clinic but the doctor was more for me getting an abortion... :/
