Furthermore, we’d love the option of using warm water in labour and the option of waterbirth to be available to the majority of women. Did you know that some hospitals encourage you to bring in your own inflatable birth pool? Knowing how to set your birth pool up will help you enormously when you go into labour. In short, we hope you find this video useful.
Steps for Attaching a Hose Connector
Attaching a hose connector is one of the steps in preparation for filling up a birth pool. Steps include:
- Firstly, obtain a new hose connector and a water grade hose – used hoses and fittings can contain harmful bacteria. This is not ideal when you are filling up a birth pool.
- Secondly, unscrew the end of the hose connector (clamping nut).
- Next slide the pieces over the end of the hose.
- Push the end of the hose connector on the water grade hose as indicated in the video. You will need to push and twist on as far and as hard as possible. Importantly, make sure you don’t fold any of the teeth back on themselves.
- Finally, screw the end of the hose connector back on. The teeth of the hose connector clamp tightly onto the hose.
- You are then ready to attach the hose connector to the indoor tap.
