If you have other children, it’s an excellent idea to use this time to familiarise them with the concept of a new sibling joining them soon. There are plenty of books and other great resources to help introduce the subject and start a conversation. However, remember you know your child best. Likewise, if you have any pets, there is information to help you prepare them for the new addition to your family.
How is your baby growing when 27 Weeks Pregnant?
Your baby now measures 24cm from head to bottom, weighs about 920gm, and they can now open their eyes, which is wondrous to think about. Their brain is developing rapidly, and they continue to put on weight until the end of your pregnancy.
What You May Feel
Your doctor or midwife may have spoken to you about the whooping cough vaccination. This vaccination is a free immunisation you can have during weeks 20 and 32 of pregnancy and helps protect your unborn child against the disease. Vaccinations are a hotly debated subject in the parenting world, so it’s an ideal time to discuss the topic with your partner or support person and, if necessary, make your decisions clear to any visitors that come to see your baby.
Tips when you are 27 Weeks Pregnant
Now is a great time to think about the equipment you might need when your baby arrives. While you still have a reasonable amount of energy, it pays to get on top of any tasks, like shopping for baby equipment or products, rather than leaving things to the last minute. There are plenty of online parent’s groups and forums you can join for product recommendations. You may also have friends and family asking you what they can purchase, so speak up and tell them what they can buy for the baby or even for you!
