High Risk Birth – Defined by Whom?

By Justine Caines In the last 5 years working for Maternity Coalition I have worked tirelessly to help establish one-to-one midwifery care across Australia.  I am passionate that women can choose a midwife in any setting, but especially at home as I have experienced the beauty of homebirth.  I do not at see myself as conservative or someone who 'sells out' in my role as an advocate.  In the last year however I have been forced to reassess all

Jude and Jesse’s Birth Story

We moved and cleaned up our apartment with my family's help and bought a big enough car. We found a real estate agent

Twins Birth Story at 37 wks plus 6 days

By Christy Leech Went in for my ultrasound at 37wks + 6days. Still had a ton of fluid with E and he was still transverse. The previous 2 nights I had terrible pain in my lower belly and a total of 4hrs sleep for both nights. I was exhausted and that didn’t make for a very feisty Me. I also had plenty of pressure from family members that were pushing me to fall in line with Dr L’s plan.

Vaginal Twin Breech Birth Story

This is my story of having a vaginal twin breech birth. For an unplanned pregnancy, we were certainly surprised when we discovered two little beings on the first ultrasound. We had initially planned a homebirth, with our midwife who had supported us at our daughter's birth at home one year ago. However, due to the increased risks associated with twins, we decided to opt for a hospital birth. Having birthed my first two children in hospital I held many
