At this point, you may be growing a bit impatient to meet your little one. You are so close to the baby’s birth, but have no idea when they will choose to make their appearance. Set a routine for your day, enjoy a walk outside and perhaps a rest if you had difficulty sleeping the previous night.
How is your baby growing when 39 Weeks Pregnant?
Your baby now measures approximately 35 to 36cm from head to bottom and weighs about 3.3kg. The vernix (a creamy substance that protects their skin from amniotic fluid) will start to disappear, although some may still be visible under their arms and in elbow and chin creases.
What You May Feel
Tiredness will have set in, and you are probably ready to have this baby. Undoubtedly, many well-meaning friends and family will encourage you to enjoy these last weeks of pregnancy before the baby arrives, but can be hard to do when you feel uncomfortable and moving around is difficult. So, hang in there and focus on one day at a time. Choose something relaxing to enjoy each day to try and take your mind off the baby and their arrival.
Tips when you are 39 Weeks Pregnant
Get cooking. With the baby arriving soon, now is a great chance to cook a few bulk dishes that you can freeze for future meals. Have you ever heard of the “witching hour”? It is the period at the end of the day when a newborn wants to cluster feed, making simple things like cooking dinner almost impossible. So, get ahead of the game now, and you will thank yourself later.
