You are now 41 weeks pregnant and one week past your due date, with everyone close to you waiting for the phone call that your little one has arrived. No doubt, you are more than ready to meet your baby. About half of all pregnancies go past the 40-week mark, and at 41 weeks of pregnancy, approximately 25% of women haven’t given birth, so you aren’t alone, as frustrating as it may feel.

How is your baby growing when 41 Weeks Pregnant?

Your baby now measures approximately 46cm to 54cm from head to toe and weighs 2.6kg to 4.3kg. Their head circumference ranges from 33cm to 37cm. Your baby is full-term and is ready to arrive any day now! Again, it’s essential to notice your baby’s movements and talk to your midwife or doctor if you think they’re slowing down or they reduce.

What You May Feel

Your midwife or doctor may discuss the option of labour induction with you. Recommending induction is common for an overdue baby, but make sure you are comfortable with the decision. Ask your midwife and doctor any questions you may have about the induction process, whether it is necessary, any risks involved and if there is any harm in waiting a little longer. While getting the baby out as soon as possible can be tempting, going into labour naturally has its benefits.

Tips when you are 41 Weeks Pregnant

Indulge yourself. You may feel huge, your feet may swell, your back is sore, and tiredness comes as standard. Book a pregnancy massage or consider pregnancy acupuncture to try and start labour. Either way, switch off the phone occasionally to get away from the constant messages asking if the baby is here. Take some time out and relax, rest your body and prepare yourself for labour.
