Ryan presents complex issues in an easy to understand manner. He explores the United States maternity care system and highlights how this system has profoundly failed. The United States spends the most on maternity care.  It has the most expensive and possibly worst maternity care in the developed world. When expecting a baby there is so much for a couple to think about and it is important to examine the birth system they are about to enter. While based on the maternity care system in the United States – the information presented relates quite closely to the Australian Maternity Care system.
